US justice department proposes reforms of internet liability law

2020-06-18 09:39:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) The US Justice department has proposed legislation to curb the liability protections under existing law for internet platforms distributing third-party content. The department said it wants to "incentivise" internet companies to do more to take down and prevent illegal content online. This follows an order from the White House less than a month ago to look at ways to make social media companies more responsible for content on their platforms.
