SUMMARY OF 900 AM MDT...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...14.3N 114.1W ABOUT 655 MI...1055 KM SSW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...50 MPH...85 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 290 DEGREES AT 15 MPH...24 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1002 MB...29.59 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 AM MDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Felicia was located near latitude 14.3 North, longitude 114.1 West. Felicia is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue with a decrease in forward speed through Thursday. A turn toward the west is expected by Thursday night, and a west or west-southwestward motion is forecast Friday and Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is likely and Felicia is forecast to become a hurricane tonight or Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
